石斑鱼 (Grouper / Ikan Kerapu)
Grouper is a premium fish which is low in fats and high in protein. Its flesh is soft and tender like chicken. Hence, it is known as the “Chicken of the Sea”. It is also crowned as one of the top four fishes that can be found in Malaysia by the people residing in Hong Kong and Macau. Grouper contains plenty of amino acids that are necessary for human metabolism as well as various minerals such as iron, calcium and phosphorus. Its skin is also rich in collagen, which promotes cell synthesis, beautifying our skin and giving us a better complexion. This makes it extremely suitable for women who have just given birth. Groupers are extremely plump and fleshy with a firm texture. It can be cooked as a whole or sliced into fillets, and whether you choose to poach, deep-fry or steam it, you are certainly in for a treat. It is also delicious when made into fish balls or used as a stuffing.
